In 1968, John Ted Hollern founded Hollern-Koontz Insurance in downtown Windber.  For over 50 years Ted offered insurance solutions with a focus on long term client relationships. Ted was an active community member providing leadership to facilitate the vitality and stability of the communities he served.  For over 30 years, Ted held a leadership position on the Windber Hospital Board of Directors.  Ted was involved in the establishment of the Windber Research Center, the Joyce Murtha Breast care center and the transformation of Windber Hospital to the Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center.  Ted’s commitment to the community was only surpassed by his commitment to his clients.  In his free time Ted enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing and spending time with his family and his beloved dogs.  Ted’s absence is felt by his clients, community and his beloved family.
